"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!

If you're new start drawing with pen and paper or tablet. But like i said, if you will work with vector, you can use pen tool (photoshop) with size 1, or any size you like. To color it's a little more complicated, you should use layers.. many layer for each part, like... skin, shirt, boots, envirioments, hair.. etc... and every layer need to be below the "lineart" layer.
well.. i if you are using mouse work with 1280x1024 using the Pen Tool + stroke Path (Bruish Size 1)... cuz with this resolution you can get a fine and smooth line... it's a little hard to paint but the final work will be better... for paint you do the same thing.. Pen Tool+Fill Path on major areas.
